The stylish 2017 Audi A7 gets significant updates for 2016, including new styling, a more powerful gas engine, and new technology.
Though the A7 keeps its unique “fastback” shape with sloping rear glass that gives the sedan a long, lean appearance but the front has been thoroughly updated with a new, larger single-frame grille, updated fascia, and new LED headlight clusters. The LED taillights have been updated as well. An adaptive rear spoiler, which deploys above certain speeds, is standard, along with a power tailgate, LED daytime running lights, sunroof, and 19-inch wheels (20-inch wheels are optional).
Under the hood, the A7’s gas engine gets an update that increases output from the turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 to 333-hp (up from 310-hp a year ago) and 325 pounds-feet of torque. Audi also offers a diesel version of the A7, called the TDI, which comes with a 240-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 428 pounds-feet of torque. Both engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard Quattro all-wheel drive.
Inside, the A7 adds new technology with updates to its MMI system including the addition of a 4G LTE data connection that turns the A7 into a Wi-Fi hot spot and a new graphics processor for faster operation. The A7 is only offered in one trim level (Premium Plus) that comes with a lot of features. Navigation, four-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, powered/heated front seats, HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports, and an eight-inch central display screen. Massaging/ventilated front seats are optional, along with a Bang and Olufsen stereo system, HomeLink garage door opener, heated rear seats, and real wood inlays.
The 2017 A7 also offers many of the latest and greatest in safety technology. Standard safety features include front/rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and eight airbags. Also available are corner view cameras, active lane assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, forward collision warnings and prevention, head-up display, night vision with pedestrian and animal detection, and a parking system.
